Large letterforms on textured paper

Type

Type that breathes

A short case for fluid scales on Squarespace 7.1 — and when to stop tweaking.

Fixed sizes feel stuck

Desktop headings that look perfect at 1440px often overwhelm a phone. Fluid type — clamp() between a calm min and max — keeps hierarchy intact without maintaining three separate stylesheets.

Set the ratio, then leave it

Pick a gentle scale. Adjust min for mobile comfort, max for large screens, then stop. Over-tuning every viewport usually makes type feel nervous.

Pair with spacing

Fluid type only works if line length and section padding breathe with it. If a heading grows but the margin stays rigid, the page still feels off.
